Kangaroo Undergoes Tests at UC Davis

Brodie, an approximately 10-year-old a female kangaroo from the Sacramento Zoo, was a patient at the University of California, Davis, veterinary hospital this week for further evaluation of a suspected mass near her heart.

Modern Menagerie at the Crocker has a zoo connection; through March 31

The Crocker Art Museum is featuring part of its permanent collection right now in Modern Menagerie an exhibition of sculptures by Loet Vanderveen, a California artist originally from the Netherlands. Vanderveen became internationally recognized for his remarkable ability to capture animals' subtle expressions and gestures with minimal detail. The exhibition primarily features works from the Crocker's permanent collection.

Coconut the Snow Leopard Recovers From Eyelid Surgery

Coconut, the snow leopard cub born at the Sacramento Zoo earlier this year, underwent a rare eyelid surgery on Wednesday, October 24.^. UC Davis veterinary specialists and the Sacramento Zoo veterinary team collaborated to correct a congenital eyelid defect known as coloboma. This ocular deformity is sometimes documented in snow leopards under human care. Coconut was also born with other birth defects that impact his mobility.
