Jan. 25, Friday -- Tracy Caldwell, a NASA astronaut and UC Davis alumna, will give a free public lecture beginning at 4 p.m. in Freeborn Hall on the UC Davis campus. Caldwell's talk will be followed by a Q&A session and photo signing. Caldwell received her doctorate in chemistry from UC Davis in 1997 and joined the astronaut program in 1998. In August 2007, she flew on the space shuttle Endeavour to the International Space Station, spending almost two weeks in orbit. During the mission, the astronauts carried out construction work on the space station, and one of Caldwell's tasks was to operate the robotic arm from within the space shuttle.

The talk is part of the College of Letters and Science Deans' Speaker Series and is co-sponsored by the Cal Aggie Alumni Association.
